Good News, part 2: Forever
Mary and all Jews were very conscious that the dynasty of David ended even though God promised that it wouldn’t. But after the announcement, Mary knew that the child she was about to carry would be the fulfillment of the promise by restoring David’s line forever. It would never be lost again.

“Yeah, but how can you be sure?” Without evidence, our faith leans only on inherited tradition or personal experience. If we believe the gospel because we do have enough evidence, we’re really trusting in our shrewd ability to sift it. But our intelligence cannot save us; only faith can, and it is a gift of God.
