Hello and welcome! I am Karen.
I have been teaching at Christ Memorial for 17 years and have been director for the past nine. I earned my elementary education degree from the University of Missouri at Columbia. I love working with preschool-aged children and look forward to another exciting year!
My husband Bart and I moved to the Madison area 26 years ago. We have two children, David and Kate. They are both grown and flown, so we are enjoying the empty nester life!

Hi! I am looking forward to working with your children this year.
I have been teaching at this preschool for five years, and I served as a substitute teacher here before that. I also worked for the Oregon School District for three years as a para sub.
Although I studied to be an optician at Lakeshore Technical College, I chose to become a full-time stay-at-home mom when my first child was born. Through various volunteer opportunities, I quickly realized that I love working with children.
My husband, Mark, and I have been married for 25 years, and we have two children. My favorite activities are spending time with my family, traveling, reading and walking.

I am so excited for this year!
A little bit about myself: I graduated from Oregon High School in 2020, and I currently attend Madison College, working toward an elementary-education degree.
Like my mom, Tanya (the 3’s lead teacher), I am passionate about working with children. I have volunteered at Christ Memorial Preschool for five years, and I have trained in assistant- and lead-teacher education.
Favorite pastimes: Spending time with my dog Daisy, traveling and walking.
