Deuteronomy 6 in action: Household Well Celebration!

There is a passage in Deuteronomy 6 that gives instructions to Households, perhaps you are familiar with it:

Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.  These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts.  Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.  Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.”  Deuteronomy 6:4-9

One of our Household WELL’s, Shane and Amanda Fisher, recently took this passage and made it very real in their home.  They did not write God’s word on the doorframe of their house or the gates, but they did write it on their stairs!   If you know Amanda, one of the things she loves besides her husband, her dog, her family, and playing trumpet is Mickey Mouse and all things Disney.  She thought that their staircase upon entering their home looked too plain and said she had an idea for what to paint on it.  Her husband Shane of course guessed that it would be Mickey Mouse and she said, “No, this is even better than Mickey.”  We would agree 100% that what God’s Word says about love in  1 Corinthians 13 is indeed better than Mickey Mouse.

What an amazing witness for everyone who enters the Fisher home and what a wonderful reminder to live out that kind of love, only possible of course by receiving that perfect love from Jesus to give away to others!  Thanks for sharing this with us Shane and Amanda!
