What if God has a track record of keeping his promises in an objectively verifiable way? Then we’d have a basis for trusting that God really does keep his promises and will keep them, because he’s done it before. Enter Jesus Christ. He’s the proof. Centuries-old prophecies plus Jesus’ resurrection from the dead equals a promise-keeping God. All the promises that God makes in the Bible he really will deliver on. He doesn’t disappoint.

“Yeah, but how can you be sure?” Without evidence, our faith leans only on inherited tradition or personal experience. If we believe the gospel because we do have enough evidence, we’re really trusting in our shrewd ability to sift it. But our intelligence cannot save us; only faith can, and it is a gift of God.
